Who we are:

We are a bunch of folks in the northern part of San Diego County who enjoy recreating the European Middle Ages as they should have been. Some of us perform historical research and learn about the people who lived a thousand years ago and how they were like us and how they were different. Some of us practice crafts that were vital to life in the Middle Ages such as cooking, blacksmithing,or brewing. Some of us are artists who carry on the disciplines that resulted in the grand cathedrals such as Westminster Abbey and Chartres and Notre Dame being the masterpieces they are. Some of us concentrate on the arts martial, learning to wield a sword and shield or a longbow, which were necessary in the middle ages to protect society's advances.

Some of us try to do it all!

And then we share it with others by doing and have a great time while we're at it! That's the Society for Creative Anachronism's (SCA for short) mission.

Where we are:

The Canton of Summergate is a canton of the Barony of Calafia, which comprises the San Diego and Imperial counties in California, in the Kingdom of Caid, which covers a large geographical area that includes Southern California up to Fresno, the southern tip of Nevada, and the Hawaiian islands, and is in turn a chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc., a group that circles the globe. Summergate's located in the northern reaches of San Diego County and stretches from the cities of Poway and Del Mar in the south to the border with Orange County in the north.
